This report is the second in the emerging markets series produced by Deloitte Research’s global real estate team and Planet Retail. The first Hidden Heroes report, released in late 2010, identified the most attractive emerging markets for retailers beyond China, including the other BRIC economies of Brazil, Russia, and India, as well as Indonesia and Turkey.
This report looks at opportunities in several African countries: not surprisingly South Africa, but also Algeria, Kenya, Morocco and Nigeria. These five African markets are seen to represent the brightest opportunities.
The report also looks further ahead to the next generation of emerging retail hotspots, highlighting Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Peru, Serbia, and Vietnam as markets set to experience rapid retail development in the coming years,0 with a growing presence of global retailers and handful of strong local players.
