Gerhard’s role is Chief Strategy Officer, Deloitte Australia and Asia Pacific. Gerhard’s core professional capability is in Strategic Planning, Strategy Execution and Innovation. He is also a proven leader of senior teams. Gerhard recently co-authored a book with Mehrdad Baghai on getting large groups of people to work productively together to achieve common objectives (As One). He is the inaugural Chairman of the RMIT College of Business Industry Advisory Board and Adjunct Professor at RMIT.

Having been with Deloitte for 26 years, Gerhard has held senior leadership positions in Deloitte for the last 23 years, notably as Managing Partner Consulting for Deloitte South Africa, East Asia, Deloitte Australia and Asia Pacific. Gerhard’s current role is the Chief Strategy Officer for Deloitte Australia and Asia Pacific. Gerhard also leads the Deloitte innovation program in Australia.

A professional civil engineer by original training with a MBA (Cum Laude), his specific professional interests include strategy, turnarounds, repositioning and releasing value out of organisations. He is also a proven leader of senior teams.

Gerhard’s commitment to continuous learning is reflected in attending a number of executive development programs at Harvard, Kellogg and IMD over the last 10 years. He also applies these learnings through the creation of new intellectual property by working with Michael Raynor (co-author of The Innovators Solution and The Strategy Paradox) on the application of disruptive innovation in organisations and has both a theoretical and practical grasp of effective innovation. Gerhard recently co-authored a book with Mehrdad Baghai (author of The Alchemy of Growth and Granularity of Growth) on getting large groups of people to work productively together to achieve common objectives (As One).

He is currently a Board member of Deloitte New Zealand’s Board, Emue Holdings Pty Ltd, a member of the Deloitte Global Innovation council and co-Chair of 2 Global initiatives as well as a member of the Centre for the Edge Advisory Board.
