Deloitte continuously looks for innovative ways to minimise its environmental footprint. Our Green Agenda is structured around a number of ‘green’ programs that seek to engage our people, encourage national participation and help us achieve our green targets. One such target is to reduce our emissions by 5% year on year. In FY12 we exceeded our target, cutting our per capita emissions by 5.3%. We did this by adopting new printing technology and introducing some paperless work practices and relocating to 5-star Green Star-rated buildings. We also focused on reducing our business travel which has flow on effects to hotel and taxi emissions reduction.

Helping our clients go green
Deloitte also contributes to environmental sustainability through our client services. We work with many clients to implement sustainable solutions, such as measuring, managing and reporting energy use and GHG emissions, and responding to the implications of the carbon price, including accessing government incentives, reporting on sustainability performance, and providing assurance for carbon and sustainability data.
Our green programs
| Green Tracker: Deloitte’s carbon management system that measures and reports on our GHG emissions. We use our data analytics capabilities to drill down into this information and to better understand our performance, so we can focus our efforts on where they’re most needed. |
| Chairman’s Environmental Excellence Awards: Annual excellence awards that recognise the office and service line that performs best in carbon reduction. |
| Green Innovation Award: A competition that encourages employees to think creatively about new ways to reduce Deloitte’s environmental impact. |
| Green Champs Network: A national network of more than 70 environmentally minded volunteers across Deloitte that helps to engage all Deloitte people in our environmental activities. |
| Reduce and Recycle Week: An annual event that inspires our people to reduce carbon emissions in the office and at home. |
