Patrick Broughan is a partner in Deloitte’s Financial Services Tax practice, and with Neil Ward in our Melbourne office, is part of the preeminent specialist team in the industry. Our Financial Services team is transaction-focused, providing practical, commercial advice to top-end-of-town clients on M&A transactions, structured finance and infrastructure.
Patrick has 27 years experience in tax, both with the Big Four and as Group Taxation Manager of a bank, as well as a wealth of banking experience. His clients include financial institutions, and Patrick is their trusted adviser across the range of taxation issues, including managing audits and negotiating settlements with the tax authorities. He has worked in New York, with a focus on cross-border structured finance transactions.
Patrick is known for the articles he has written for the Australian Stock Exchange for general investor education, and is a Senior Fellow Lecturer at the University of Melbourne.
Patrick sees things in black and white – at least when it comes to his football team. Although he’s lived in New York and Sydney, Collingwood is part of his family culture.
