The Situation

Every Olympic and Paralympic Games is unique—from the cities that host the Games to the immersive, integrated experiences that bring such an event to life for the athletes, the fans, the sponsors, and the community. From the very early stages of planning, LA28 has had its own unique aspiration to deliver one of the most innovative and technologically advanced sporting events to date. With a seven year runway to deliver the Games experience, LA28 engaged and collaborated with Deloitte to help map out its overall technology vision and strategy for the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Solve

Deloitte defined and refined our strategic approach by conducting proprietary research, including interviews with 20+ subject matter specialists, as well as analyzing survey results from more than 800 U.S. Olympians and Paralympians and Deloitte professionals. Our findings informed the development of personas and journey maps to define potential existing and emerging technology integration points customized for different points of the Games experience. This custom mapping helped to not only pinpoint how technology can help optimize the experience for specific groups and personas, but also showcase how technology can unlock new experiences and opportunities for them.


Deloitte assisted LA28 with its technology vision statement to inform sponsor engagement, capability mapping, and future state architecture. Subsequently, Deloitte helped develop a multi-year roadmap encompassing all technology services across governance, integration, enterprise functions, digital engagement, sales & customer care, marketing, advertising, analytics, data, infrastructure and more to guide LA28.

The LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games are well positioned to execute its mission of delivering a memorable and unparalleled experience enabled by technology. This vision and strategy was designed to establish a foundation on which to build a frictionless, integrated technology eco-system across suppliers as well as amplified experiences for key stakeholders—from fans and athletes to tech sponsors and the local community.
