Destination 2025Charting the course of Minnesota's bioscience industry |
Published
Continuing its tradition of innovation, the state of Minnesota in 2008 initiated a visioning initiative to lay a foundation for economic growth in the bioscience industry. The state tasked the BioBusiness Alliance of Minnesota (BBAM) – a nonprofit group dedicated to the bioscience industry – and Deloitte Consulting LLP to lead a 20-year visioning project that would analyze key markets and provide recommendations.
The objectives of Destination 2025 were to identify global market trends and technologies, and outline a path for Minnesota to become a leading economic center in the bioscience industry. BBAM and Deloitte Consulting examined the future of six bioscience markets and developed policy recommendations and investments needed for the state to sustain a long-term competitive position in these fields. The six markets are: Animal Health, Biologics and Biopharmaceuticals, Food, Medical Devices, Renewable Energy and Renewable Materials.
The results of the Destination 2025 analysis were released January 2009 to an audience of local industry leaders, state government executives and academia. Deloitte LLP is proud to have worked with the BioBusiness Alliance of Minnesota to deliver a comprehensive vision for the bioscience industry. The final reports offer a detailed analysis of six priority markets and will provide academia, industry and government with the tools needed to prepare for the future.
Several staff and leaders from Deloitte’s Minneapolis and Chicago offices conducted in-depth research and consulted with local industry leaders as well as specialists from around the world to bring the leading analysis to the state. The project leadership team included:
