Meet Elizabeth Drigotas
Principal, Compensation and Benefits, Deloitte Tax LLP
Elizabeth Drigotas is a principal in Deloitte Tax LLP's Washington, D.C., office, focusing on employee benefits and executive compensation. Before joining our organization, Elizabeth worked as an attorney advisor in the Office of the Benefits Tax Counsel for the U.S. Treasury Department. During her tenure there, she participated in projects including golden parachute regulations, incentive stock option regulations, section 401(k) and (m) regulations, regulations permitting individuals over age 50 to make additional contributions and regulations applicable to ESOPs (employee stock ownership plans).
Since joining Deloitte Tax LLP in 2003, Elizabeth has advised clients primarily in the areas of executive compensation and benefits issues raised by mergers and acquisitions, including golden parachute liability. She is actively involved in working with clients to implement the requirements of section 409A, which significantly changes the tax treatment of deferred compensation. She is a frequent speaker on the topic and is the author of articles for the NYU Federal Tax Institute and Employee Benefits Update for 2005, and is a co-author of the chapter updating the BNA Portfolio on Deferred Compensation for section 409A.
Elizabeth received an A.B. in History from Bowdoin College in Maine and a J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a member of the Employee Benefits Committee, Section of Taxation, American Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas and the Maryland State Bar Association.
