Operational sustainability

Minimizing our environmental impacts

Just as we advise companies on leading sustainability practices to measure and mitigate environmental impacts, we also implement them in our own workplace. Operational sustainability encompasses a national approach to streamlining procurement, measurement and analysis of energy use, as well as increasing awareness and personal accountability through the efforts of our “green team.”

Despite the challenges of coordinating sustainable initiatives across more than 55 offices, we are proud of our many achievements and honours in this area. In 2009 we opened our first geothermal, LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified office in Brossard, Quebec. We have reduced our business travel and paper use, and have completed our carbon footprint baseline assessment.

The Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) honoured Deloitte with a Sustainability Star for our work in developing a supplier code of conduct and preparing their two final sustainability reports for external assurance.

Our Technology Green 15TM Awards recognize companies that develop technologies which promote more efficient use and reuse of the earth’s resources.
