Travel Insight Report 2026 | In collaboration with Business Traveller Middle East

Shaping a new chapter of purposeful, intelligent, and resilient travel in the Middle East

The Middle East is entering a new phase of tourism growth, one defined not only by scale, but by meaning. As destinations across the region mature, the next competitive advantage will come from experience design, digital trust, sustainability, and the ability to turn visitors into long-term advocates.

Travel and tourism in the Middle East is entering a defining new era. Across the region, major investments in infrastructure, culture, hospitality, sports, and technology are beginning to mature, creating an opportunity to move beyond growth measured purely by visitor numbers and toward growth defined by quality, resilience, and long-term value.

This report explores how the region is reimagining travel through four connected lenses: experience design, digital innovation, purpose-led development, and sustainable resilience. Together, these themes reflect a broader shift in how destinations compete, how visitors choose where to go, and how governments and operators can create stronger economic and social outcomes over time.

At its core, the report argues that the future of travel in the Middle East will be shaped not just by what is built, but by how intelligently and intentionally destinations are designed, managed, and experienced.

460

Million

The number of jobs expected to be supported by the travel and tourism industry by 2034 – accounting for more than 11% of the world’s economy.

19.59

26.6

122

Million

The record-breaking number of domestic and international visitors Saudi Arabia welcomed in 2025. Of this total, approximately 30 million were international inbound tourists. These figures reflect a 5% annual increase from 2024.

5.1

Million

The record number of international visitors Qatar welcomed in 2025, representing a 3.7% increase from the previous year, primarily driven by the country’s expanded year-round events calendar and booming MICE calendar.

The report shows that the region’s next phase of advantage will come from connected thinking rather than isolated initiatives. Experience-led destination design, AI-enabled personalization, regenerative tourism models, and more disciplined sustainability strategies are no longer separate conversations; they are becoming part of one integrated tourism agenda.

It also highlights a major strategic shift in traveller expectations. Today’s visitors increasingly value cultural depth, convenience, personalization, environmental responsibility, and experiences that feel considered rather than standardized. For destination leaders, this raises the bar from simply attracting visitors to understanding them, serving them better, and creating reasons for them to return.
