In the midst of the Coronavirus crisis, Deloitte people around the globe are working to connect to what matters each and every day. This story is part of a series featuring Deloitte people and the impactful work they are doing with clients and in the communities they serve.
Tax Aid and Tax Help for Older People provide free tax consultation services to low-income households in the UK that cannot afford professional help. The financial fallout and tax complications resulting from the COVID-19 crisis have made their services more critical than ever. The pandemic has also forced the charity to confront new challenges such as moving to remote work, while also keeping its helplines open to support vulnerable populations, as well as funding shortfalls.
As long-standing partners of TaxAid and Tax Help for Older People, the Deloitte UK Tax and Legal practice reached out to see how they could help. They provided a wide range of services drawing on expertise from across the firm: a Deloitte tech center provided laptops to facilitate working from home; Deloitte Digital helped to develop an at-home contact center; and Deloitte communications SMEs advised on the launch of an impactful social media fundraising campaign.
CEO Valerie Boggs says, “We have been working with Deloitte for years. They have gotten to know us, our clients, and the people we are trying to help.” This deep-seated relationship and mutual understanding is what allowed Deloitte to quickly step in and help prepare the UK charity to continue to deliver its critical services to people who depend on them.
At Deloitte, we are connecting with our clients, people, and communities to make an impact every day.
