FSI Magazine no. 6 - december 2009

Publicatiedatum:

FSI magazineFSI Magazine no. 6, edition December 2009, is out now. Amongst others, it contains an in-depth interview with Jan Pieter Krahnen, professor of finance at the Goethe University in Frankfurt and member of the expert committee that advises German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Addressing systemic bank risk is essential for a long-term resolution to the financial crisis, he argues. Krahnen advocates a new financial order. ‘We must tackle the issue of too big to fail.’

This issue also contains interviews about integrity at the basis of sustainable business success with the Dutch FSI’s finest such as Wim Kok, former supervisory board member at ING and now President of the Club of Madrid. The financial and economic crisis, he suggests, is an ideal stimulus to get us to rethink things in greater depth and change what needs to be changed.

Besides, you can find a number of high-level articles on subjects like the view of UK, Belgian and Dutch CFOs on the road to recovery, the reduction of the administrative burdens on the FSI in Europe, Central Europe’s top banking and insurance companies, the must knows in Forensic Services and the back office organisation of Polish banks.

Continuing changes, enormous opportunities
The Financial Services Industry (‘FSI’ for short), perhaps more than any other, stands to benefit from the continuing changes. New rules and regulations, new technologies, changing consumer behaviour and rapid ongoing changes in demographic service areas in Europe are just some of the market developments the FSI has to contend with. Obviously, all these changes have to be implemented, and may involve substantial investments. On the other hand, greater efficiency, essential scale and new geographical boundaries present enormous opportunities for all active parties in the FSI.
