The problem and the solution
Most companies now take advantage of basic, shrink wrap tax software, not least those packages that produce tax returns. But many organisations now want systems that do much more. They would like highly sophisticated applications that cope with significant levels of tax rules and calculations that are needed in producing the return. Moreover, they seek products that can assist in the completion of other tax compliance and planning processes, including workflow and deadline reminder systems as well as software to manage documentation and undertake tax planning calculations.
The development of these more advanced systems requires a formidable blend of technical and tax expertise. Deloitte has built up precisely that blend of experience over the last two decades. We offer the finest range of basic and advanced tax systems.

Examples
Deloitte’s Abacus is the leading tax technology software produced and maintained in the UK. This in conjunction with Deloitte’s products in other countries, makes Deloitte tax software the global market leader. Our off-the-shelf tax software solutions cover some 20 countries in scope and in 2005 will extend to over 50 countries assisting our clients in the tax compliance processes in those jurisdictions.
What is involved?
In general, procuring off-the-shelf tax software involves paying an annual licence fee for the use of the software. The licence fee includes unlimited calls to a Deloitte support hotline and appropriate training for the relevant product. Additionally, Deloitte often gets involved in the installation of the software and confirming that it meets requirements to ensure that our clients will get the best from the software.
