Ukraine Roundtable 2005
16-17 June 2005, Kiev, Ukraine

This Extraordinary Ukraine Roundtable, sponsored by the World Economic Forum, provided an exclusive group of participants with a first-hand view of economic perspectives and market developments in Ukraine. During the meeting, participants had the unique opportunity to interact with the President Yushchenko and other government leaders.

On the final day of the Roundtable, a ten-point action plan for rapid economic progress was presented to President Yushchenko. The 250 participants proposed a framework of immediate measures to improve investor confidence.

The program agenda concentrated on Ukraine’s crucial challenges: the economic reform program and business climate; relations with Europe, Russia and the rest of the world; corruption and transparency. Discussions surrounding these topics helped to broaden the interaction between the international business community and the Ukrainian government. This also allowed the government a chance to hear the business community's concerns and priorities.

In addition, government officials, foreign and local companies discussed market perspectives and investment opportunities in small interactive industry meetings focused on energy, mining and metals, infrastructure, banking and media.

Deloitte participated in this event and was represented by the following delegates from its Russia and Ukraine firms:

Alex Doumnov, Deputy Chairman of the Board and Partner
Vladimir Vakht, Managing Partner and Head of Deloitte in Ukraine and Belarus
