NGBs often have a dual focus. You exist to develop the elite within a sport for domestic and international sporting success whilst exploiting commercially the associated intellectual property. You then have a duty to run and fund the national game down to grassroots level and represent its interests in front of Government and within the international sporting arena. Each throws up different tax issues.
From the use of charities and Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASCs) to develop the grassroots, to the income and corporate tax compliance surrounding the national team, from the financing and development of stadiums and training facilities to rules and regulations to standardise the approach to a tax issue within a sport, as an NGB you must be aware of competing interests and demands. You must also educate those involved in the sport about the importance of tax and tax compliance. We work with NGBs of all sizes and have experience of these issues.
