Overview
This year the Africa Economic Summit engaged participants, ranging from heads of states to business leaders, in developing an action plan to expedite the economic and business reforms in the region. The Summit sponsored by the World Economic Forum was held on 1-3 June in Cape Town, South Africa.
In Cape Town, participants held high-level dialogues focused on determining the required partnerships and resources to advance Africa's cause to meet its Millennium Development Goals on poverty, mortality and education.
Additionally, the three-day Summit showcased the Commission for Africa report and helped align businesses in support of its recommendations. The goal was to engage business as a catalyst for change in Africa. This event also provided an opportunity for African businesses to promote investment and trade. |
