Our History

What's behind the Deloitte name?

In 1858 Philip S. Ross, who was already operating a successful chandlery, began to offer accounting and customs services to meet his clients’ changing needs. Over 150 years, his firm grew, through hundreds of mergers, to become Deloitte — one of the most important and respected forces in Canadian business, and the largest professional services firm in the country. Known for our leadership, innovation and integrity, Deloitte has been shaping Canadian businesses since 1858.
