Deloitte was one of the founding signatories of the World Economic Forum's Global Corporate Citizenship Initiative (GCCI) in 2002. Since then, more than 40 CEOs from a variety of sectors and regions have signed the initial statement and framework for action: "Global Corporate Citizenship: The Leadership Challenge for CEOs and Boards."
The framework produces a template for a leadership process within the company and is intended to be complementary to the various voluntary corporate citizenship principles and guidelines that have been developed in specific issue areas.
In 2003, the GCCI conducted a survey with selected signatory CEOs of the CEO Statement on Corporate Citizenship. Offering insight from 18 different industry sectors and more than 16 different countries, the key findings of the survey are summarized in "Responding to the Leadership Challenge: CEO Survey on Global Corporate Citizenship."
In 2004, the GCCI report was developed in partnership with the International Business Leaders Forum. It examines the importance of corporate citizenship in investor relations in "Values and Value: Communicating the strategic importance of Corporate Citizenship to Investors." Through its member firms, Deloitte's contribution to this research was included in "Investing in Responsible Business: The 2003 survey of European fund managers, financial analysts and investor relations officers".
