2009
The FT-WEC Energy Leaders Summit will be held in London October 13-14. Deloitte is again lead sponsor. this year's theme is The Road to Copenhagen - Energy and finance solutions to a post-2012 world. Climate change speakers include Mr. Yvo de Boer, Executive Secretary, UNFCCC, Dr. Richard Sandor, Chairman, Chicago Climate Exchange, and Pat Concessi, Deloitte global climate change leader.

Carbon Expo is being held in Barcelona May 27-29. Deloitte is a silver sponsor and will host a morning event May 28 where Pat Concessi will be a speaker.

At Counting Carbon, May 13-14 in Houston, Pat Concessi spoke on Winning corporate strategies:  A discussion of best practices in organizational structure.

Branko Terzic spoke at Carbon TradeEx America held April 7-8 in Washington.

Deloitte Canada partner Valerie Chort spoke at the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada's PDAC 2009 conference  March 1-4 in Toronto. Her topic was Sustainability and corporate responsibility: a strategic mining opportunity.

April 1-3 in San Diego, Pat Concessi addressed the Navigating the American Carbon World conference organized by California Climate Action Registry and IETA, on Implications of verification decisions for policy.

Brian Murrell was a panelist addressing Overcoming accounting and taxation hurdles for emissions reduction credits at Carbon Forum America February 26-27 in San Francisco.

At Euromoney's Coal Trans Americas, Melissa Swift spoke on Beyond Cap and Trade and CCS: coal and the carbon markets. the conference was held January 29-30 in Miami.

At the Enterprise-wide Risk Management, From Model to Maturity conference held January 21-22 in San Diego, Melissa Swift spoke on Climate Change: A Game Changer for ERM. Deloitte was a gold sponsor.

January 21-22 in Houston, Pat Concessi spoke at the Platts Carbon Trading Conference on Preparing for a National Cap-and-Trade System. Deloitte was a sponsor.

2008
At the International Energy Credit Association Fall Conference in October, Pat Concessi spoke on Carbon Markets Risk Management for Utilities. Deloitte was a sponsor.

The 2008 Deloitte Alternative Energy Seminar September 3 in Dallas addressed technical accounting and tax issues affecting the alternative energy sector.

July 7 Deloitte held the Carbon Risk Management Seminar in Tokyo featuring speakers from EDF and Tokyo Electric Power joined by Deloitte member firm partners Eric Dugelay (France), Masatoshi Nishimoto (Japan - Climate Change Services Leader), and Kappei Isomata (Japan), Deloitte's Energy & Resources leader for AsiaPacific. 

At the 19th World Petroleum Congress in Madrid, June 29 to July 3 , Pat Concessi and Robin Cohen, Deloitte U.K. Economic Consulting leader, presented their paper on The Implications of Linking Emissions Trading Schemes to Market Participants.  

At the Montreux Energy Roundtable June 2-4 in Montreux, Switzerland, Pat Concessi spoke on Investment Uncertainty and Disruptive Technologies: Climate Change as a Major Driver. 

Global Aviation & Transport Director Paul O'Neill spoke at the World Refining Association's EUROPEAN FUELS CONFERENCE 9TH ANNUAL MEETING March 11-13 in Paris. His topic: Aviation and jet fuels – stand by for take off. 

The World Biofuels Association's 2008 World Biofuels Markets Congress also featured Paul O'Neill speaing on Transporting and delivering biofuels. The Congress was held March 12-15, 2008 in Brussels.

At the Carbon Forum America, held in San Francisco February 26-27, Brian Murrell spoke on Operating in a Carbon Market: An examination of legal and accountin gissues in the carbon market.

Global Aviation & Transport Director Paul O'Neill spoke on Sustainability Reporting to Improve Stock Market Performance: Engaging shareholders through the communication of environmental practices at Driving Green Aviation in London, held January 30-31, 2008.

At the EUEC Energy & Environment Conference January 28-30 in Tuscon, Arizona, Pat Concessi and Patchin Curtis spoke on Weathering the Storm: Enterprise Risk Management for Climate Change. Kathryn Pavlovsky also spoke on Balancing Risk and Opportunity in the Emerging Emissions Trading Markets.

At Platts' Carbon Trading: Opportunities and Risks in Global Emissions Markets, January 24-25 in Houston, John England spoke on Carbon market Uncertainty and Corporate Strategy and Pat Concessi chaired a session on Managing Risk and Uncertainty in Carbon Markets.

2007
UNFCCC 13th Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP/MOP3) in Bali, Indonesia, December, 2007, at the IETA (IETA (International Emissions Trading Association) side event titled:"Development of Domestic Emissions Trading Systems." Pat Concessi presented on "Carbon Regulation in Canada."

Deloitte Cert, Tohmatsu Evaluation and Certification Organization (a United Nations Designated Operational Entity) and many Deloitte climate change leaders from around the world at Carbon Expo May 2-4, 2007 in Cologne, Germany.

The Deloitte Energy Conference, was held in Washington, D.C., May 14-15, a2007 and featured discussions on The Carbon Dilemma, Power Generation Technologies and Alternatives in a Carbon-Constrained Future, as well as the Role of Alternative Energy in Meeting Future Demand.

Global Energy & Resources leader Chris Nicholson and North American Global Energy Markets leader John England will join a distinguished panel at the British American Business Association Transatlantic Conference in Marina Del Rey, California on May 18 to discuss A Race Against Time: Can our Utilties Cope?

Deloitte U.K. presented Revitalised resources: Making investments happen in natural energy resources. This seminar on renewable energy was held May 24 in London.

Global Climate Change & Sustainable Resources leader Pat Concessi chaired the Carbon Focus Day at Power 2007 held June 19 in Monte Carlo.

Global Energy & Resources leader Chris Nicholson chaired the FT Global Energy Leaders Summit held June 19-20 in London. He joined Global Oil & Gas leader Peter Newman and a gathering of notable speakers from major energy companies as well as the key officials from the EU Energy Commission, the International Energy Agency, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the World Energy Council.
