Isaan is one of the poorest regions of Thailand. Close to 70 % of the population lives below the poverty limit. The educational level, and primarily that of language courses, is extremely low.  The region cannot provide sufficient employment.  Young people with a limited educational level try their luck in the bigger cities taking on underpaid jobs or ending up in the sex-industry.

Through its Corporate Social Responsibility Program, Deloitte committed to provide a school with the necessary IT infrastructure and a multifunctional hall.  This project was finalized in January 2008.

The realization of the project brought up more needs: additional training for the English language teachers and financial support through scholarships for very bright but needy children.

Through this new project we would like to help out a limited number of children selected by the school. In providing non-repayable scholarships we want to support their hopes for higher education. In addition, we contribute to the travel expenses of carefully selected volunteers willing to spend some time raising the level of the English language courses, in cooperation with the local school board. The region and local guest families take care of the costs of their stay.

The distribution of the funds will be closely monitored and we will be accountable towards our sponsors.
