Renewable energy

Against a backdrop of numerous drivers, renewable energy continues to grow as a sector. The marketplace is wide and diverse. Some technologies such as hydro and wind are mature, whereas others, such as solar and geothermal, are proven but not yet developed on a large scale in the UK.

Large utilities hold stakes in technology developers and operators, or have renewable energy portfolios in-house, to meet their renewable obligations, or play their part in enhancing the market.

Medium to long-term investors, for example private equity, investment banks and infrastructure funds, have funds earmarked for this arena. AIM now claims to house more than 50 renewable energy companies and there is a vast array of smaller companies working towards listing.

We focus on two main areas of activity; merger and acquisitions, and assisting smaller companies to ‘make it big’. Our work is underpinned by our understanding of incentive mechanisms, policy, tax structures, fund raising and business planning. Details of Deloitte's services to the renewable energy sector
