It all sounds inviting. But where does Deloitte fit in? As an AAA (principal) sponsor of the project, Deloitte will come into contact with large private companies and governmental institutions preparing to launch innovative products. Involved from the start, we have a better chance of being selected as a partner. For example, to create an effective go-to-market business model. Deloitte will also increase its influence and its visibility by taking part in strategic workgroups on, say, e-government or the city of the future. According to Consulting partner Hans De Bruyne, who will be heading the e-health work group, “As an advisor to organisations it is important for Deloitte to know what is technologically possible and what impact these changes will have on organisational processes.” Hans is focused on the medical sector. “The idea,” he explains, “is to facilitate a discussion between different companies active in healthcare solutions.” Many innovative ideas are currently in the pipeline: pharmaceutical companies using television to inform doctors about new medicines; controlling pacemakers from a distance; automatic health alerts to patients and hospitals. Marc De Maeyer, Marketing director, continues, “We’ll associate our brand with innovation by using the House of the Future as a location for public relations events, seminars and for welcoming new recruits.” He adds that involvement with Living Tomorrow will promote more dialogue on innovation inside Deloitte.
