Deloitte has launched a £3.4m programme to develop disability sport in the UK, between now and 2012. Our initiative is 50% funded by Government, and reflects our twin traditions in supporting community endeavour and nurturing top talent.
We are creating a Deloitte Disability Sports Institute, to be run by the British Paralympic Association. This will build a bigger grass roots community of active competitors in disability sport, and help identify the champions of the future.
Secondly, we are doubling the financial support available to disabled competitors, through the Sports Aid national Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme, assisting 500 disabled athletes to progress to world class performance.
Deloitte's contribution has been hailed as a 'transformational investment' in disability sport. Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell has praised the firm's vision and the excellence of our programme.
There will be opportunities for all Deloitte staff to contribute through fundraising, team activity, and by supporting local athletes.
