Deloitte National Charity Selection NSPCC and Cancer Research UK have been chosen as our national charities for 2008 and 2009. More than 5,300 of our people took part in the final vote which closed on Wednesday. Announcing the result Director of Community Investment Richard Stone said: “This is a fantastic response by our people and demonstrates just how important our charity partnerships are for the firm. I’d like to thank everyone who took part in the vote. We are looking forward to working with NSPCC and Cancer Research UK which are two of the UK’s leading charities. We’re planning to raise more than £1m for them during the next two years through fundraising and payroll giving, and there will also be opportunities for our people to get involved through volunteering and providing professional support". “Both charities have already come up with ideas for projects that we can support and for ways to involve our people, and we’ll be announcing more details in the New Year. Our partnership with the British Heart Foundation and Leukaemia Research has been an outstanding success and we’re going to build on that success going forward.” 15 December 2007

Thousands of our people take part in a variety of fundraising events throughout the year, and there are some truly inspiring opportunities.
Our people fundraise for our national charity partners: CRUK, NSPCC or for any of our local regional office charities. In addition to raffles, auctions and quiz nights, there are a lot of other events staff and partners can enter such as organised walks, runs and bike rides, as
well as the more challenging marathons and triathlons. How the firm helps our people
Every office has a champion who organises local events, and there's an online fundraising calendar of national fundraising activities. Additionally, each year the firm allocates £150,000 in matched funding for staff fundraising, offering up to £500 per person, per event.
