Greenhouse Gas Register
Part of Deloitte's strategic partnership with the World Economic Forum

Since January 2002, Deloitte has been instrumental in setting up the Global Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Register with the World Economic Forum and other business and environmental organizations. The Register gives participating companies the opportunity to report the levels of greenhouse gases that their operations produce, and what they are doing about it.

Already, some of the world's largest energy, mining and cement companies (See the list below) have signed up to participate. Together they account for an estimated 800 million tons of carbon dioxide-equivalent per year, which represents nearly 5% of global GHG emissions.

"Deloitte is committed to helping clients respond to global business risks and opportunities. Many of our clients have identified the measurement and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions as an important part of their future reporting practices," saysWilliam G. Parrett, CEO, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. "We have been working closely with the World Economic Forum to develop a practical tool that will assist companies in disclosing their GHG inventories in a manner that is useful to users of such information and does not create an unnecessary burden on business."
