The Administrators of G Retail Limited (trading as Gowings), Peter Yates and David Lombe of Deloitte, will close the Market Street store in Sydney on Sunday. Administrator and Deloitte partner Peter Yates said the Alexandria clearance store would remain open at this point in time to allow for the clearance of remaining stock. |

| Wine consumers spoilt for choice this summer |

Signs of a bumper 2006 harvest across most Australian wine regions means wine lovers will be spoilt for choice this summer with many wineries and wine outlets set to offer great wine at low prices. With Australia producing two large vintages in the last two years, industry analysts had predicted earlier this year that the 2006 vintage would follow historical trends where yields are typically lower than average for one in every three years. However, as we head into 2006, Australia’s leading wine regions are predicting a vintage along similar lines to 2004 and 2005.

The Administrators of G Retail Limited (trading as Gowings), Peter Yates and David Lombe of Deloitte, have closed the Hornsby and Oxford Street stores. After 14 years of comment and consideration, the Treasury today released an exposure draft covering new rules for the taxation of financial arrangements (TOFA), which will support Australia’s aspiration for greater alignment between its taxation and accounting systems. The changes will provide organisations with a radically different approach to recognising taxable income for financial instruments – their assets and liabilities. "TOFA will change the way businesses are taxed on their financial arrangements," said Deloitte Tax Services partner, Neil Ward.

In a submission to the Department of Treasury by a group of 37 Top 200 companies, its author professional services firm Deloitte, called on the Federal Government to increase workforce participation by addressing the current child care exemptions, currently restricted to employers business premises only.
