Deloitte scoops Award at 2005 eircom net Golden Spiders 12 December 2005 Hailed as "the Oscars of the internet industry", the winners of the 2005 eircom net Golden Spiders were announced at the Gala awards dinner attended by over 650 guests at Dublin’s Burlington Hotel, which was hosted by comedian Sean Moncrieff. The eircom net Golden Spiders are Ireland’s leading showcase for excellence in online business and the people running them, in Ireland.  Deloitte picked up the best ‘E-Consultancy Award’ which is given to the company that demonstrates its ability to assist in providing E-business solutions to clients though its website.

Irish CEOs Call for 'SSIA Pension Incentive' in Budget - Deloitte survey 06 December 2005 97 per cent of Irish chief executives believe that the Minister for Finance should use the forthcoming budget to introduce an incentive to encourage individuals to reinvest the proceeds of their SSIAs as they mature, according to a Deloitte survey.

The survey of 107 CEOs, which was carried out last month, also found that 79 per cent would favour the introduction of tax breaks for parents who use childcare, while 77 per cent believe that there should be an increase in the stamp duty thresholds in Budget 2006 in order to encourage people to trade up in housing and free more houses up for first-time buyers.

Data Electronics Celebrates 30th Anniversary by Winning Top Prize in Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Awards 25 November 2005 Dublin-based Data Electronics has become this year’s winner of the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 award. Founded in 1975, Data Electronics is Ireland’s oldest data centre operator and has seen aggregate growth in revenue of 4,376 per cent over the past five years. Irish Retailers Look Forward to a Happy Christmas as Irish Consumers Again Lead Europe as Biggest Spenders in the EU 22 November 2005 Deloitte Annual Christmas survey reveals Irish consumers plan to increase their Christmas spend while other European nations tighten the reins on their Yuletide shopping bill.  According to Deloitte's seventh annual consumer survey of Christmas spending plans, Irish consumers are planning an increase in their individual spending on Christmas gifts of 8 per cent this year.  This is the biggest increase across the 9 countries surveyed and puts them in line to be the biggest spenders across the region. This trend is at odds with much of Europe where spending intentions are flat, if not slightly down on last year.

Technology companies head north for first time in quest for Fast 50 Awards 09 November 2005 Ireland’s top 50 fastest growing technology companies have now been identified and will travel to Belfast later this month to compete in the annual Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Awards, sponsored in association with InterTradeIreland.  Now in its sixth successful year, the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 event will be held in Northern Ireland for the very first time, on 24 November, 2005.

Retiring workforce, widening skills gap, exodus of “critical talent” threaten companies: Deloitte survey 26 September 2005 Impending baby boomer retirements, a widening skills gap and outdated approaches to talent management are combining forces to produce a “perfect storm” that threatens long-term business performance, according to a new survey conducted by the Human Capital practice of Deloitte.

Executive remuneration: salary increases slow but pay for performance grows 16 September 2005 Deloitte, the business advisory firm, today outlines the emerging trends in the pay of UK executive directors in its annual report, Executive Directors’ Remuneration, the key findings of which show a rise in bonus levels, and a greater emphasis on performance-based reward.

Salary increases are slowing, with the median basic salary increase for executive directors in the FTSE 350 being 6.5 percent compared to 7.1 percent in 2004 and 7.5 percent in 2003.
