Dublin-based Data Electronics has become this year’s winner of the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 award. Founded in 1975, Data Electronics is Ireland’s oldest data centre operator and has seen aggregate growth in revenue of 4,376 per cent over the past five years. Last year, the company was ranked number 40 in the list. The final ranking was announced last night during an awards ceremony in the BBC Studio, Belfast. Deloitte Annual Christmas survey reveals Irish consumers plan to increase their Christmas spend while other European nations tighten the reins on their Yuletide shopping bill. According to Deloitte's seventh annual consumer survey of Christmas spending plans, Irish consumers are planning an increase in their individual spending on Christmas gifts of 8 per cent this year. This is the biggest increase across the 9 countries surveyed and puts them in line to be the biggest spenders across the region. Ireland’s top 50 fastest growing technology companies have now been identified and will travel to Belfast later this month to compete in the annual Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Awards, sponsored in association with InterTradeIreland. Impending baby boomer retirements, a widening skills gap and outdated approaches to talent management are combining forces to produce a “perfect storm” that threatens long-term business performance, according to a new survey conducted by the Human Capital practice of Deloitte. In a global survey, 69% of the 1396 human resources practitioners surveyed say attracting new talent poses the greatest threat to competitiveness, followed by the inability to retain key talent (66%) and incoming workers with inadequate skills (34%). Deloitte, the business advisory firm, today outlines the emerging trends in the pay of UK executive directors in its annual report, Executive Directors’ Remuneration, the key findings of which show a rise in bonus levels, and a greater emphasis on performance-based reward. Salary increases are slowing, with the median basic salary increase for executive directors in the FTSE 350 being 6.5 percent compared to 7.1 percent in 2004 and 7.5 percent in 2003. Dan Jones, Partner in the Sport Business Group at Deloitte, commented: “Many overseas clubs benefit from player transfer spending by English clubs, with around £140m being redistributed overseas in 2005. The Premiership’s financial success and the clubs’ improved financial discipline means that, in general, more English clubs can invest in players. Internal information security attacks are out-growing external attacks at the world’s largest financial institutions, according to the 2005 Global Security Survey released today by the Financial Services Industry practices of the member firms of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (DTT).
