Public Sector Support Costs Can be Reduced Through Use of Shared Services 20 June 2006 Public sector bodies could reduce certain costs by up to 40 per cent through the introduction of shared services, according to a new report from Deloitte. Shared services is the consolidation and sharing of services by different units within an organisation. Such services are very often back office support activities such as finance and human resources, but can also include customer contact and related functions.

More than 75 per cent of Builders’ Providers Predict Sales Growth in the Next 12 Months – Deloitte survey 25 April 2006 More than 75 per cent of builders’ providers are predicting sales growth in the next 12 months, with around 40 per cent estimating sales will increase by over 10 per cent, according to a survey by Deloitte.

The survey also found that trade sales account for 74 per cent of turnover in owner managed builders’ providers, with DIY sales making up 26 per cent.

Deloitte Launches IT Forensic Team to Help Irish Businesses Tackle IT Crime 03 April 2006 Deloitte is delighted to announce the launch of its IT Forensic team, part of its growing Enterprise Risk Services division.  This service will help Irish companies to combat corporate crime.

IT forensics is the science of recovering and analysing deleted, cached and hidden data from IT equipment such as PCs, PDAs, servers and mobile phones. Harbison Appointed to Head Up Deloitte IT Forensics Unit 06 March 2006 Andrew Harbison has been appointed by Deloitte to establish a new IT Forensic and Litigation Support Service. Harbison is regarded as one of the most experienced IT forensics specialists in private practice in Ireland.

Harbison joins Deloitte from Ernst & Young where he founded and managed its computer forensics practice. During his four years there, he successfully concluded over 150 investigations. Corporate market easy prey for private equity – Deloitte study 03 March 2006 Research conducted by Deloitte, the business advisory firm, into the debt market, has revealed that many listed companies are under leveraged and have not seized the opportunity created by cheap debt to increase gearing, fund transaction activity or plug pension shortfalls.
