Gathered under the motto “When the Little Hands Join”, Deloitte volunteers arranged a tour through the Zoo and a picnic in the Maksimir Park for the Caritas Home for the children without propper parantel care proteges. Seventy kids and their nurses joined some eighty Deloitte volunteers, who left their computers, meetings and business suits for one day, and in great spirit spent the day with Caritas Home children. During the picnic, we played lots of games, which included flying kites, badminton and the “mandatory” football tournament. Revenues for the ‘big five’ European football leagues have exceeded €7 billion for the first time according to the latest Annual Review of Football Finance from the business advisory firm, Deloitte. The overall size of the European football market has grown to €13.6 billion in 2006/07, up €1 billion from the previous season. Two-thirds of technology and telecommunications companies expect their workforce to grow by at least 6 percent over the next 12 months. The number of specialist infrastructure funds focused on Europe has grown four times in the last few years, and the value of European acquisitions by infrastructure funds has grown from less than 1 billion GBP in 2003 to over 22 billion GBP in 2006. Almost half (48%) of European infrastructure funds’ mergers and acquisitions activities is focused on Great Britain, while Central and Eastern Europe accounts for only five percent. Formula 1 boasts the world’s highest revenue generating annual sporting events, with the 18 Grands Prix in 2007 having an average revenue of $217 million. This compares with per game values of $24 million in the NFL, $8 million in the FA Premier League and $2 million in the MLB. At absolute revenue levels, F1’s global revenues of $3.9 billion (Source: Formula Money) mean only the NFL ($6.5 billion in 2006) and MLB ($5.1 billion in 2006) earn more revenue, albeit from a substantially higher number of events. The Premier League clubs’ combined revenue was $3 billion in the 2006/07 season.
