Over the last 6 months Deloitte’s middle market division (Deloitte Growth Solutions) has recruited two new partners from the second tier firm Horwath. Andrew Bethune and Michael Clarke recently joined the Melbourne and Sydney offices respectively.
Deloitte's Growth Solutions group was started in 1999 and currently has a staff of 600, including 60 partners, and fee revenue of about $100 million a year. The group's national leader, Vince Fitzsimons, says he wants to increase earnings and staff numbers by 20-25% each year.

Both Andrew Bethune and Michael Clarke were from the private business advisory team at Horwath and have experience in working with significant clients who are fast growing within the private business sector. Their areas of interest include:
• Medium to large family owned businesses
• Succession and estate planning
• Wealth creation strategies including superannuation
• Taxation Services
• Corporate Services
Research conducted by Deloitte Growth Solutions (2003 Growth Trends Brief) has highlighted that Australia’s emerging market recognised the need for more strategic, long term assistance with their businesses particularly in the areas of strategic planning, succession planning, trade sales and IPO’s. “
