July 28, 2008: Deloitte Motor Industry Services has launched a Dealer Management System (DMS) service designed to help motor dealers and manufacturers optimise their investment in information technology. Wayne Pearson, Managing Director of Deloitte Motor Industry Services said, “Many of our clients are concerned that they don’t get the best out of their internal computer systems. This is not the DMS suppliers’ fault as most of the issues relate to the integration of the DMS with best practice systems and operational processes. The DMS suppliers and the dealerships often don’t have the expertise in-house to improve the situation as it is not their area of expertise. “To meet this shortfall Deloitte has developed a service that will help dealers use their current dealer management systems better. Working closely with the DMS suppliers, we will help them manage their relationships more favourably and integrate best practice business processes with the IT infrastructure.” As part of this new initiative, Deloitte has engaged the services of Paul Armstrong to deliver specialist consulting services aimed at helping Dealerships maximize their usage and benefit from their Dealer Management Systems. Paul, previously from Kerridge Automotive Systems (now part of the Auto IT group) brings more than 15 years experience at senior management levels within various dealer management systems suppliers to the DMS service. “Paul has the experience, industry knowledge and contacts within the DMS vendor community that we have been looking for. He will add real value to those clients who feel they are not maximising the return on their IT investment,” said Mr Pearson. The new DMS consulting services being offered by Deloitte includes: - DMS health checks
- systems utilisation assessments
- training needs analyses
- vendor relationship management
- planning and project management
- organisational planning and review.
“We are not seeking to help dealers change systems. This we believe should be the last resort. What we do want to do is help a dealer create best practice solutions with their existing systems,” Mr Pearson said. “We see our involvement at a dealership as bridging the business process gap between the dealer and the DMS vendors to improve profitability and utilisation of the system.” Wayne Pearson
