For the tenth consecutive year Deloitte member firms were recognised at the annual ISR Global Securitisation Awards as the world’s best firm for securitisation accounting. The annual International Securitisation Report (ISR) awards are internationally recognised as the most important qualitative assessment of distinction within the structured finance community.

International Securitisation Report conducts an online poll of readers and interviews industry participants and nominees before recognising the best securitisation issuers, arrangers, accounting firms, law firms, rating agencies, trustees, research providers and transactions.

Head of Deloitte’s securitisation practice in Australia, Graham Mott says, “This is a valuable award for us in Australia as our clients and the users of securitisation services worldwide vote for the winners in a client vote of confidence”.

Mott commented that given the way 2008 is shaping up for the industry, Deloitte’s securitisation network of more than 400 people will be leveraging their risk consulting and advisory expertise to meet the challenging times ahead for the industry.

“Going forward we expect a widening of margins which will reflect the pressure on funding activities. This predicted widening of margins we would put down to more appropriate pricing of the risk.

“If you look back two years or more,” Graham Mott noted, “the margin on a non-conforming loan was more than 100 basis points wider than it is today.

“As the industry more appropriately prices risk going forward margins are widening to reflect this,” he said.

To meet this increasing complexity in the market, Deloitte’s practitioners across 50 countries, are combining their business and industry knowledge with innovative data analysis and securitisation technology to enable the firm to assist clients make better choices at each strategic decision point on the road ahead.

The ISR awards were presented on 24 January in London and were attended by more than 400 of the world’s most senior industry figures.
