Deloitte Australia announced today that a Deloitte audit partner Caithlin Mc Cabe has been invited to join the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB).

The IAASB sets high quality auditing, assurance, quality control and related services standards which audit practitioners around the world adopt in the conduct of financial statement audits.

It aims to facilitate the harmonisation of international and national standards, thus enhancing the quality and uniformity of practice in the global auditing and assurance profession.

“We are proud of Caithlin. It’s an amazing accolade, and she is truly one of the firm’s inspiring and talented partners," said Giam Swiegers, CEO of Deloitte Australia.

“Not only is she the only Australian practitioner, but she will be a representative of the Transnational Auditors Committee globally.

"In addition, Deloitte is the only one of the Big Four in Australia with a representative on the board responsible for setting standards for the audit and assurance profession around the world.”

“I am looking forward to bringing a fresh perspective and new ideas to the IAASB as a representative of the Transnational Auditors Committee,” said Caithlin.

“The last few years have been challenging for the IAASB as it sought to shape global audit and assurance standards to meet market expectations.

"These standards are aimed at building worldwide confidence in the quality of audit opinions and as a result, confidence in the capital markets.”

Caithlin has been a partner for seven years and is a part of Deloitte’s Audit Methodologies Group.

She heads Deloitte Australia’s National Audit Services Group, which is responsible for all audit technical and risk matters.
