Ron Loborec, a specialist in energy trading risk management, strategic advice and sustainable solutions has been named the new national leader of Deloitte’s Energy, Infrastructure and Resources team.

“With the current sectoral boom creating both opportunity and challenge for industry participants the energy and resources sector is now rivaling the financial services sector in terms of the need for consultancy advice, with revenues from the sector this year only marginally behind financial services, said Ron Loborec.

“Our Energy Infrastructure & Resources team now has over 400 professionals across Australia and has grown by 40% over the last year. We currently provide services to every major energy and resource company in Australia. On the energy side we’ve been involved in almost all of the primary energy transactions for the past five years, and on the resources side we service 9 of top 10 businesses (by revenue) in Australia.

“We have incorporated infrastructure into our Energy & Resources team, reflecting the huge need for capital raisings across the sector, not just in additional productive capacity for power generation but in emerging areas such as water resource,’ said Loborec.

“With a background in energy markets I am looking forward to spearheading Deloitte's services related to climate change, emissions trading, and carbon.

“I am currently conducting Australia-wide research on trends and issues across the energy and resource sector for the next 5 years, with comparisons drawn from US and European trends.”
