The 2006 Deloitte NSW Family Business Growth Award has been given to John R Burton Contractors Pty Ltd. They are a NSW- based business which provides contracting services for civil infrastructures, road maintenance and construction and utility services. Given the recent investment from the NSW Government in public works including roads, this has enabled John R Burton Contractors to grow by 20% during the year.

The award was announced today at the NSW & ACT Family Business Australia (FBA) Conference. The Deloitte 2006 NSW & ACT FBA Growth Award has been established to recognize and reward the fastest growing private enterprises in NSW and ACT. The award recognises family businesses that have achieved the fastest average turnover growth over the last three years, and businesses entering the NSW & ACT Family Business of the Year Awards were eligible to enter.

John R Burton Contractors was established in 1973 by John and Trish Burton. They are currently the Managing Directors’ of the business. Their sons, Paul and Chris are involved in the business. Paul is General Manager and Chris is Construction manager. The boom in industrial estate subdivisions has been a key success factor for their business during the year.
