The Administrators of G Retail Limited (trading as Gowings), Peter Yates and David Lombe of Deloitte, have closed the Hornsby and Oxford Street stores. 

Administrator and Deloitte partner Peter Yates said a closing down sale in the Market Street store and trading at the Alexandria clearance store are reaching final stages, with both stores expected to be closed by the end of the month. 

“We have seen a huge public response to the closure of the stores with customers strongly supporting the business through this period,” Peter Yates said.

“While the closure draws nearer for staff, I take my hat off to them, they have continued to provide excellent customer service right throughout this period,” he said.

“Interviews for employment with other retailers have been arranged for staff in an effort to secure them ongoing alternative employment.”

A second meeting of creditors is expected to be held during February where the Administrators will announce whether sufficient assets have been realised to pay a dividend to the unsecured creditors.
