The CBI has announced that Jane Lodge, head of the UK manufacturing group at the business advisory firm Deloitte, has been appointed to the CBI’s Manufacturing Council.

The Manufacturing Council is the focal point within the CBI for identifying and addressing issues specific to UK manufacturing, and provides a voice for manufacturers to influence mainstream CBI policy and government, and is very active in the Manufacturing Forum.

Jane Lodge brings to council extensive knowledge in the manufacturing arena as well as almost 30 years of advising leading manufacturers around the world as part of her role at Deloitte.

Commenting on her appointment Jane Lodge said: “It is a tremendous honour to be invited to participate on Council and contribute to helping the manufacturing community to prosper.”

“I am passionate about UK manufacturing that it should play a central position in our economy. We have a large number of highly successful world class organisations who could aspire to be Global leaders. I look forward to contributing to their success to Council and providing direction and input on economic and regulatory issues.”

Lodge has served as a member of the CBI West Midlands Regional Council for over five years and was named Midlands Business Woman of the Year in 2001. She was awarded the Birmingham and West Midlands Society of Chartered Accountants' Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003 and also serves as Patron of the Birmingham Women’s Hospital Foundation.

Nick Brayshaw, Chairman of the CBI Manufacturing Council commenting on Jane’s appointment added: “We are delighted to welcome Jane to Council. She brings with her a wealth of experience in this sector and coupled with her professional services knowledge she will make a valuable contribution to Council.”

The CBI Manufacturing Council membership spans all regions, sizes and sectors of UK manufacturing and meets to debate pivotal issues in the sector.
