Deloitte, the business advisory firm, has today announced plans to expand its International Social Security team.

Robert Hodkinson, tax partner at Deloitte, comments:
“The expansion of the EU in May last year and the continued growth in the number of internationally mobile employees has led to an increased demand from businesses seeking advice on managing the compliance obligations businesses have with these employees.

“To reflect increased demand in this area, we have appointed the head of the International Section at Longbenton, Roy Toogood. Roy is an extremely well respected and high profile figure in the international security arena, and will act as a point of liaison with both the UK and other social security authorities on current interpretations and technical developments.”

Roy Toogood comments on his appointment:
“International businesses are under pressure to ensure they have the appropriate compliance and reporting processes in place to manage an increasingly mobile workforce. Roy has over 30 years of experience in the administration of EU Social Security Regulations, as well as the operation of the UK’s bi-lateral Social Security Conventions with other countries and the UK contribution regulations on internationally mobile workers. Prior to joining Deloitte Roy worked with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) for the Centre of Non-Residents. Roy received an MBE in the New Year Honours 2000 for his work at HMRC.
