Deloitte, the business advisory firm, stormed to success at the 2008 Accountancy Age awards last night, winning three major awards:
- Firm of the Year
- Employer of the Year
- Personality of the Year for John Connolly, UK chief executive, for a second time.
Explaining why they chose Deloitte as Firm of the Year, the judges said: “The firm has had a great story to tell over the past 12 months and has put in a great performance.” Today’s edition of Accountancy Age reported: “Perhaps the most memorable achievement has been to hit the target of growing the firm to £2bn in revenue.” On winning Employer of the Year, the magazine states: “A reading of the voters’ comments reveal a staff body impressed by the firm’s commitment to quality, its focus on sustainability, its ability to create a sense of belonging and its concentration on maintaining a tolerable work-life balance for its staff.”
John Connolly, UK senior partner and chief executive comments: “Undoubtedly, the best award to receive was Employer of the Year, which reflects the relative standing of our firm in the eyes of our people versus our competitors. This is an amazing achievement for our firm, which is well-deserved recognition for the relentless commitment of our people and our outstanding reputation in the marketplace.”
