Deloitte, the business advisory firm, has appointed corporate finance specialist Chris Britten as a director to its expanding UK Life Sciences & Healthcare practice.

Commenting on the appointment, Simon Hammett, head of the UK Life Sciences & Healthcare practice, said: “As a leading provider of professional services across the pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices and healthcare sectors, our ongoing commitment is to give practical support to help clients respond to today’s complex business challenges.

Chris Britten hails from a scientific background having gained a PhD in biochemistry and an MBA.  He was previously with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) for 15 years specialising in R&D, corporate venturing and most recently, as business development director.  Chris has a huge amount of experience and contacts in the life sciences market having negotiated a variety of acquisitions, licences, divestments and strategic alliances with partners around the world.

Chris Britten’s arrival at Deloitte follows the appointment of two UK member firm partners to global leadership roles of the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (DTT) Life Sciences & Healthcare industry group.  Dean Arnold has been appointed DTT Health Care Sector Leader and David Jones the role of DTT Financial Advisory Services Leader for Life Sciences & Health Care.
