Deloitte, the business advisory firm, has been given a Gold rating in the Sunday Times Business in the Community 2007 Corporate Responsibility Index. Deloitte’s performance in the overall index jumped from 85% last year to 93.5%. Deloitte also received Platinum ratings for the Workplace Index and Community Index as well, as a Gold rating in the Environment Index. Cindy Cahill, Partner responsible for Corporate Responsibility at Deloitte commented: “Deloitte's performance in the overall index has improved significantly this year. This is a fantastic achievement for Deloitte and one of the highest increases of all participants in the survey.” Cindy added: “Acting as a responsible business is key to Deloitte’s business operations and has led us to develop a corporate responsibility approach that is totally integrated with the business strategy. Through the Deloitte Foundation we have funded two major community projects: the Employability Skills initiative to raise the employability skills of young people in the UK and the Disability Sports Programme which Deloitte launched last year to develop disability sports between now and the 2012 Olympics. Both these initiatives are strongly supported by Deloitte people and contributed to Deloitte’s Platinum ranking in the Community Investment sector.” John Connolly, Deloitte’s Senior Partner and Chief Executive added: “Responsibility is an area of strategic focus for our firm. We cannot achieve our objective to be recognised as the pre-eminent and most trusted professional services firm without holding integrity, responsibility and sustainability at the very centre of our business.” End About Deloitte In this press release references to Deloitte are references to Deloitte & Touche LLP, which is among the country's leading professional services firms.
