Deloitte, the business advisory firm has added some new options to the flexible benefits scheme offered to all staff. From January 2007, all staff will have the option of choosing BUPA health assessments and identity theft protection, in addition to a range of other options. Deloitte employees can purchase these benefits from an annual benefits allowance, which is given to staff as part of their reward package.
The new benefits will be provided alongside existing choices such as the ability to buy additional holiday, travel insurance, dental insurance, childcare vouchers, critical illness cover, Bikes4Work, a car park season ticket and private medical insurance.
Commenting, Neil McKie, head of reward at Deloitte said: “Whatever the level or role in Deloitte, staff have a benefits allowance which is provided on top of their usual core benefits. The flexible benefits system allows individuals to choose from a wide range of options or take the allowance as cash. The two new options have been introduced following a trial and in response to demand from staff.”
Deloitte have found the flexible benefits system to be popular amongst staff, particularly the option of purchasing up to five days extra holiday on top of the 25 days that are already given to staff. McKie said; “Our experience is that 85% of staff choose at least one type of benefit option, with 70% opting to use some of the allowance to purchase additional holidays.”
One of the new benefits for this year is identity theft protection. Provided by CreditExpert, it is designed to help protect staff from becoming a victim of identity fraud, one of the country’s fastest-growing crimes.
The BUPA health assessments provide people with a detailed picture of how healthy they are, enabling them to take control of their health and ensure their future wellbeing.
Sharon Fraser, Managing Partner of Talent at Deloitte says, “Our ability to recruit and retain the best people is fundamental to Deloitte’s vision of being the UK’s highest-performance and most successful professional services firm.
“That’s why Deloitte has put together a reward strategy that offers its staff the freedom to make their remuneration package as unique as they are. Whether it’s maximising cash flow, making child care more affordable or ramping-up their health cover, the flexible benefits system enables staff to choose what is most important to them. “
