The first intake of Chinese graduates have arrived at Deloitte in the UK, as part of an innovative recruitment campaign that was launched to recruit 20 graduates a year, a joint programme between Deloitte in the UK and China.

The Chinese graduates will receive the same training and salary as other graduate joiners, a paid trip home each year and will complete the ACA qualification. They will be working in audit, corporate tax and technology assurance and advisory.

After four years in the UK, they will have the option of returning to work for Deloitte in China.

Commenting on the programme, Peter Bowie, Chief Executive of Deloitte in China said: “There is a real appeal to graduates in China to have the opportunity to work abroad. The skills they gain will benefit both Deloitte in the UK and to UK clients. At some point in the future some of the graduates will want to come back to China and we hope they will rejoin Deloitte when they return home.”

Luc Lu, one of the graduates on the programme said; “The attraction of the programme is working in a well developed business centre and to take this experience back to China where I think it will be extremely valuable. So many people applied for these positions and I feel really lucky to have been selected.”

Sarah Shillingford, Graduate Recruitment Partner at Deloitte said “Our China Recruitment Programme allows us to improve the knowledge within the UK firm of Chinese business practices and culture and vice versa within the Chinese firm of Deloitte.

"It’s an exciting initiative that we expect to become an ongoing arrangement. Building on this programme we are also looking at recruiting graduates from other significant emerging markets.

“Few Chinese graduates get the opportunity to work in a different marketplace and the personal growth in terms of what they will learn by living in another country can’t be beaten. We are delighted with how well they are adapting to living and working in the UK.”
