NEW YORK,  January 23, 2008 – For the ninth year, Deloitte & Touche LLP has been named to FORTUNE magazine’s list of “100 Best Companies to Work For.” The 11th annual survey, which appears in the Feb. 4 issue of FORTUNE and on www.fortune.com, is the national benchmark that lists employers who consistently raise the bar on talent initiatives and corporate culture improvement for all employees.

“Without a doubt, being named to Fortune’s list is extremely gratifying,” said Barry Salzberg, CEO, Deloitte & Touche USA LLP. “What matters most is knowing our people recognize a difference in the environment we’ve put in place to support their success.”

Among the initiatives that helped Deloitte in this year’s survey:

  • Mass Career Customization ™: a tool that allows people to dial up and dial down in their careers to suit their personal needs, while still advancing in the organization.
  • Coaching & Career Connections, an internal coaching and career development resource providing live and virtual coaches on a confidential basis.
  • A Diversity Mentoring Program that offers minority senior managers and managers the chance to work with experienced professionals as mentors who provide career advice and leadership development.
  • The Deloitte Film Festival, a film-making competition and team-building exercise in which thousands of people created videos about their lives and experiences at Deloitte.

The FORTUNE list of “100 Best Companies to Work for in America” pays tribute to the companies that excel in motivating employees and helping them manage their personal and professional lives. Of some 1,500 firms that were contacted, 406 companies participated in this year’s survey. Nearly 100,000 employees at those companies responded to a 57-question survey created by the Great Place to Work Institute, a global research and consulting firm. The employees are asked a variety of questions about credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie. Employee opinions factored heavily in the decision process for the list, as two-thirds of the company's score was weighted on responses from randomly selected employees.
