New York, July 29, 2003 —  Alan Schneier has been named Global Managing Partner Tax & Legal Services for Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. Schneier succeeds Jerry Leamon, who was recently appointed Global Managing Partner for Marketplace Services.

Most recently, Schneier has served as Deputy Global Managing Partner for Tax the past three years, leading the strategy development team. He has been a member of Deloitte's Global Tax Management Committee, and has played an integral role in numerous global activities throughout the regions, service lines and industries. Prior to this, Schneier was leader of Comprehensive Tax Solutions, and also oversaw the Office of the Chairman Program for Tax.

Schneier joined Deloitte & Touche in 1974. He has 29 years' experience in public accounting and has concentrated on tax planning and compliance services for multinationals; tax aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures; and the financial aspects of accounting for income taxes.

Schneier holds an MBA from the Wharton Graduate School of the University of Pennsylvania, a JD from Fordham Law, and an LLM from New York University Graduate Law School.
