New York, June 1, 2005 — During the first two weeks of June, the people from many Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu member firms around the world will join forces to make an impact on their communities. Professionals in more than 20 countries, from Australia to Zimbabwe, plan to participate in activities in the spirit of IMPACT Day.

As community involvement takes on different forms around the world, IMPACT Day activities will be as diverse as the member firms taking part.

  • In South Africa, member firm professionals will provide career guidance to owners of small businesses, visit schools and children's homes to make repairs and entertain children, and work with clients to pack hundreds of food parcels.
  • Activities in Hungary range from teaching students about launching a business and writing a résumé to renovating playgrounds and parks.
  • Brazil member firm professionals may donate blood at the office, listen to a concert by a children's group sponsored by the firm, or attend lectures aimed at increasing community involvement throughout the year.
  • U.S. activities include helping the jobless with their résumés, teaching students about business and volunteering at agencies that help domestic violence victims.

"IMPACT Day reinforces the global organization's and member firms' overall commitment to community involvement," says Jim Wall, DTT Global Managing Director, Human Resources. "This commitment is a great example of Deloitte's global shared values — especially our value 'Commitment to each other.'"

The participating Deloitte member firms designate one day within the first two weeks of June as Impact Day. Member firms use this day to reflect and celebrate their involvement in the community during the past year and to renew their commitment for the coming year.

Deloitte refers to one or more of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, a Swiss Verein, its member firms, and their respective subsidiaries and affiliates. Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu is an organization of member firms around the world devoted to excellence in providing professional services and advice, focused on client service through a global strategy executed locally in nearly 150 countries.

With access to the deep intellectual capital of 120,000 people worldwide, Deloitte delivers services in four professional areas — audit, tax, consulting and financial advisory services — and serves more than one-half of the world's largest companies, as well as large national enterprises, public institutions, locally important clients and successful, fast-growing global growth companies. Services are not provided by the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Verein, and, for regulatory and other reasons, certain member firms do not provide services in all four professional areas.

As a Swiss Verein (association), neither Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu nor any of its member firms has any liability for each other's acts or omissions. Each of the member firms is a separate and independent legal entity operating under the names "Deloitte," "Deloitte & Touche," "Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu" or other related names.
