New York, September 9, 2004 — Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, the global professional services organization, announced today that Emerging Markets Group Ltd. ("EMG"), previously called Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Emerging Markets Ltd., is now an independent firm associated with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. EMG, an international development consulting firm, is owned and operated by its former management. EMG provides international development consulting services in the areas of health, utilities, agribusiness, finance, private sector development and public sector reform to international donor agencies and sovereign governments.

William G. Parrett, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu's global Chief Executive Officer, said, "Many of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu's member firms have worked closely with EMG's founding partners, Robert McPhail and Richard Andrews, for over twenty years and we look forward to continued cooperation with the new executive team at EMG."

Rick Andrews, former managing director of EMG, said, "I am delighted to announce that Margaret (Andy) Dijkerman will be my successor as Chief Executive Officer of EMG and Teresa Mastrangelo will assume the position of the Chairperson of the Board. The new owners of EMG include Andy Dijkerman, Teresa Mastrangelo, Anthony Sinclair, Rick Andrews and Robin McPhail.
