New York, June 21, 2004 — Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, the global professional services organization, announced today that Jeffrey P. Rohr has been named chief financial officer of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu and its U.S. member firm, Deloitte & Touche LLP.

Mr. Rohr, 54, has served as regional managing partner (RMP) of the U.S. firm's Midwest practice in Chicago since 1995. He succeeds Bill Fowler, who is retiring after 38 years with Deloitte, the last nine as CFO. Deborah L. DeHaas has been named to succeed Mr. Rohr as U.S. Midwest regional managing partner.

"The leadership changes we are announcing today reflect the extraordinary depth of talent and experience throughout the Deloitte organization," said William G. Parrett, chief executive officer of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. "Jeff Rohr possesses keen financial skills and broad marketing experience — key requisites for the CFO role at this critical juncture for our firm."

As CFO, Mr. Rohr will join the firm's U.S. operating and executive committees as well as the global management committee — key leadership panels responsible for setting and reviewing important strategic objectives and executing the financial plan.

Commenting on the leadership transition in the Midwest Regional Practice, Barry Salzberg, U.S. national managing partner, said, "During Jeff’s outstanding stewardship, the Midwest regional practice has shown dramatic growth. His significant contributions, especially in the areas of practice management and development, have helped build and maintain Deloitte's position as the dominant professional services firm in the region.

“As Jeff moves into his new roles as global and U.S. CFO, we're delighted to welcome Deb DeHaas as Midwest regional managing partner. Since joining Deloitte in 2002, Deb has been strong and effective in leading the management and development of the firm’s strategic clients program for offices throughout the Midwest region. Like Jeff Rohr, she is also a positive force in her community through her extensive civic involvement."

Deloitte's Midwest practice is now the largest in the region, with nearly 5,000 firm professionals across five states. It was ranked first in Emerson's most recent Chicago Area Client Satisfaction Study and placed 10th in Chicago Magazine's "25 Best Places to Work" survey.

Mr. Rohr was also managing partner for Deloitte's Central Atlantic practice, based in Washington, D.C., and was national director of business planning for the firm's U.S. practice in New York from 1986 to 1992. Mr. Rohr began his Deloitte career with the firm's Miami office in 1972 following his graduation from Florida State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

His client service resume includes many of the firm's prominent corporate, public sector and not-for-profit clients. Among them are companies in the airline and publishing industries as well as governments and hospitals.

Mr. Rohr also has a long record of civic involvement. He is deeply involved with Junior Achievement; the Ravinia Festival; the Commercial Club, the Civic Committee; and the United Way, among many others civic organizations.

Ms. DeHaas has served as regional managing partner of Strategic Client Services for Deloitte's Midwest region since 2002. In that role, she also served as advisory partner on a many of the firm’s most significant clients in the Chicago area.  Throughout her career, Ms. DeHaas has served a variety of clients, with an emphasis on those in the manufacturing, consumer products and communications industries.

Ms. DeHaas is also recognized for her extensive community involvement in the Chicago area. Among other organizations, she has significant involvement with the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations, the Commercial Club of Chicago, the Economic Club of Chicago, Executive’s Club of Chicago, the Museum of Science and Industry, WTTW/Channel 11, World Business Chicago and the United Way. Mr. Parrett also thanked Bill Fowler for his 38 years of service at Deloitte.

"Bill joined Deloitte in 1966 and has had a terrific career with the firm, making important contributions as CFO for nine years and, prior to that, as Managing Partner of the Pacific Northwest practice based in Seattle," said Mr. Parrett. "We wish him the very best in his retirement."
