Tougher Expat Tax Rules Enacted to Pay for Military Tax Relief – President Bush on June 17 signed into law a $1.2 billion military tax relief package that is paid for by provisions to tighten the tax rules for individuals who expatriate, modify the treatment of foreign subsidiaries of certain U.S. companies for employment tax purposes, and hike the penalties for failure to file returns.
