House OKs Energy & Extenders Bill; Revenue Offsets Prompt White House Veto Threat – The House of Representatives on May 21 approved legislation that would provide one-year extensions of dozens of corporate and individual tax provisions that expired at the end of 2007 or are scheduled to expire at the end of this year; but even before the bill cleared the House, its proposed revenue offsets, which would tighten rules regarding offshore deferred compensation and delay the effective date of the worldwide interest allocation election, drew a veto threat from the Bush administration.
